In Loving Memory

Hannah Sexton

July 2, 1990 - March 15, 2009

Hannah Sexton, a young motocross rider from Jacksonville, Florida, had a tragic accident on March 15, 2009.  She was practicing on her dirt bike at the Dirt Farm track in St. George/Folkston where she collided with another bike.  She was life-flighted to Shands where an operation was performed but unfortunately she did not make it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends.

How did you get started?

My mom and dad got job changes and we had to move to Florida.  To get me pumped up about moving they bought me a Honda crf 100 from First Coast Honda.  I remember that day so clear, Ken Koehler, the sales manager sold us the bike and when he was helping load up the bike I asked him if the bike had reverse.  That’s when we all realized I had no idea how to ride a dirt bike.  So the next weekend I met up with Ken at the Honda track and he taught me how to ride.  From then on I was all about Motocross and have stuck with it ever since.

Why do you compete?

I compete because I strive to get better.  The best way to improve is to compete.  Race day is the day to prove to everyone that you have worked harder than your competitors.   Not only, to show everyone you worked harder than they have, you want it more than they do.

Do you train?

Yes.  I am an 110lb girl that rides a 215lb motorcycle... I have to.  I do weight lifting, cardio; I ride 1-2 times a week and race on weekends.
